Stainless Steel 317/317L Washers are composed of 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, with a low carbon content in grade 317L for improved weldability. This composition offers superior resistance to oxidation, intergranular corrosion, and chloride-induced stress cracking. The washers exhibit a tensile strength of around 515–620 MPa and yield strength near 205 MPa. They maintain excellent toughness, ductility, and mechanical stability even at elevated temperatures. The low carbon version (317L) prevents carbide precipitation during welding, making it ideal for high-corrosion and high-temperature environments.
